Today, (11.15.2010) DC Child Support Services Division (CSSD) will be launching a Homeless Veterans Outreach Initiative.

On November 15, 2010, DC Child Support Services Division (CSSD) will be launching a Homeless Veterans Outreach Initiative. This new initiative is aimed at enhancing services to Non-Custodial Parents (NCPs) who are Homeless Veterans of the United States Armed Forces and have active Superior Court of the District of Columbia child support obligations or still owe child support arrears. Veterans may either walk-in or can be referred from legal pro bono organizations, homeless shelters, case managers, social workers, the DC Office of Veterans Affairs or the US Department of Veterans Affairs. If the homeless veteran meets the qualifications of this new initiative, he or she will be assisted by CSSD in the filing of a motion for modification. CSSD will also determine whether the homeless veteran may be eligible for the following programs: Fresh Start, Fathering Court, Online Case Lookup, and CSSD’s Job Readiness Workshop. In addition, the Policy, Outreach & Training Section will conduct outreach programs with governmental agencies, homeless shelters and other nonprofit organizations in order to highlight this new initiative.  Even if you are not homeless, CSSD is honored to assist all veterans and active members of the armed forces.
